On February 1st-5th, 2019 Diabetes Action Canada Francophone Patient Partners and Researchers participated in the CardioMetabolic health, Diabetes and Obesity (CMDO) Network Winter Camp for the third year.  CMDO was created in April 2012 by the Fonds de Recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS), with a mission to promote research excellence, knowledge development and knowledge sharing to improve the quality of life of Quebecers.

The Winter Camp, held at Hotel Cheribourg, Magog-Orford, was an intensive “all expenses paid” interactive workshop with internationally renowned speakers including researchers from the Institute of Cardiometabolism and Nutrition (ICAN, Paris), and Lyon (France). Doctoral students, residents, postdoctoral fellows, research professionals, and Patient Partners assembled to discuss cardiometabolic health, diabetes, obesity and patient-oriented research.   This year program included more interactive workshops such as live grant evaluations with oral debates, nutrition/physical activity methodological session, a research translational day, and writing efficiency workshop.

Stay tuned for details for next year’s Winter Camp to be held January 31st to February 4th, 2020
