We are delighted to announce that Clarence Nepinak was honoured at the 16th Annual Keeping theĀ  Fires Burning event.

Clarence Nepinak was selected by Aboriginal Council of Winnipeg for his lifetime contribution to the well being of the First Nations people and communities.

Keeping the Fires Burning was started in 2001. Over the past 16 years, Ka Ni Kanichihk has honored 113 First Nations, Metis and Inuit grandmothers and grandfathers- all of whom have made a significant contribution to the advancement of Indigenous peoples, and, indeed, the safeguarding, nurturing and transmission of Traditional Knowledge and practice. Our Grandmothers and Grandfathers are the holders of our histories- the keepers of our traditional knowledge of ” our link to Mino Bimaadiziiwin”.
