Abdoulaye Thiaw

MD, MSc Epidemiology

Description

Abdoulaye Thiaw holds a doctorate in medicine in his country of origin, Senegal. He is currently pursuing graduate studies in epidemiology at the Faculty of Medicine of Laval University to become a Clinician-Researcher. He works with Dr. Holly Witteman’s team on the CommuniDT1 project aimed at establishing a community bringing together people living with T1D, their loved ones and experts in the field of health. The objective of this project is to create a support framework led by people living with T1D to improve the psychosocial health of people impacted by T1D across Canada. More broadly, he is interested in research on chronic non-communicable diseases, particularly diabetes and high blood pressure. According to him, alongside the medical treatment of these conditions, emphasis should be placed on the creation of community approaches that will allow patients to feel like they are an actor in their health and have a better quality of life.
