Lorraine Lipscombe

Description

Dr. Lipscombe is an endocrinologist and clinician scientist at Women’s College Hospital, and a professor in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine and Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. She is also the inaugural director of the University of Toronto’s Novo Nordisk Network for Healthy Populations, which seeks to reduce the burden of diabetes and chronic disease in Peel region and beyond through better care, lower risk factors, and healthier living conditions. She completed her MD from McGill University in 1998, followed by Internal Medicine and Endocrinology training and an MSc in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Toronto. Dr. Lipscombe’s research program focuses on the epidemiology, care and prevention of diabetes, with a specific focus on diabetes in women.  She has extensive experience with the use of population-based databases to conduct diabetes research, and she is currently leading research of a diabetes prevention program for women with gestational diabetes.
