Dr. Annalijn Conklin is a social nutritional epidemiologist and associate professor in epidemiology and outcomes research at UBC in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Conklin leads a Program of Social Epidemiology and Metabolic-Outcomes Research (http://semor.core.ubc.ca) to support healthy aging and reduce heart health inequities in women in Canada. Conklin’s lab examines how broader determinants, such as social ties or material circumstances, impact cardio-metabolic risk factors differentially for aging women and men. Dr. Conklin conducts population studies using international survey, prospective cohort and health administrative datasets (e.g. European Prospective Investigation in Diet and Cancer, Demographic and Health Survey, Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging), and also undertakes community-led health research using Indigenous Methodologies and Ways of Knowing. Dr. Conklin is a Sex and Gender Champion and has expertise in applying an intersectional gender lens in health and healthcare research.
