Cindy Lufuluabo

Description

Cindy Lufuluabo is one of the first awardees of the Diabetes Action Canada Research to Action Fellowship. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Health at the University of Montreal, focusing on health equity and improving health outcomes for marginalized communities. As the daughter of Congolese immigrants, Cindy believes that culture is a vital factor in health. She has been actively involved in several projects aimed at improving the health of Black communities and is dedicated to advancing public health policy and promoting culturally competent care to reduce health disparities and improve outcomes for vulnerable populations in Canada. In her fellowship with Diabetes Action Canada, Cindy had the opportunity to translate complex research findings into content that is understandable, accessible, and engaging for Black communities. The goal of her work was to bridge the gap between research and practical application, with a specific focus on improving diabetes awareness, care, and outcomes in Black communities.
