Kurinche Thiyagarajah

Kurinche Thiyagarajah is an Honours Biology student at McMaster University whose connection to diabetes began through a loved experience, supporting her mother as she navigated gestational diabetes and later T2DM. Her work in diabetes advocacy grew through SCORE! Family Health Van, where she supports culturally tailored T2DM education and prevention screening for newcomer communities in Hamilton, as well as her research on remission, gestational diabetes, and maternal metabolic health outcomes at Mount Sinai Hospital. She is passionate about making diabetes education more inclusive for underrepresented groups and hopes to contribute community-centered perspectives to help make diabetes work more compassionate, culturally aware, and realistic for families.
